Booster water heaters

2021-03-05

Booster water heaters are units that attach to an existing water heater and provide additional energy to boost the water temperature from the standard output of say 120oF to a higher temperature. When used with a mixing valve or an anti-scald valve, the net effect of these units is to increase the capacity of a water heater’s output, enabling more hot water to be consumed from a tank of given capacity. By increasing the temperature, the higher temperature water must be mixed with cold water to make it safe for use, but by doing so, the water in the water heater tank is consumed at a lower rate by virtue of it being mixed with cold water before consumption.
